Results are estimates: the percentage is set by the competent medical authority. End-of-service gratuity is due on top; calculate it with the UAE gratuity calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How much is death compensation for a work injury in the UAE?

24 months of the worker's basic wage, at least AED 18,000 and at most AED 200,000, paid to the heirs together with end-of-service gratuity and other dues (Article 37(3)).

How is partial disability compensation calculated in the UAE?

The disability percentage from the official schedule × the death compensation (24 months' basic wage, between AED 18,000 and 200,000). Example: 30% disability on a basic wage of AED 6,000 = 30% × 144,000 = AED 43,200.

Is my salary paid while I am treated for a work injury?

Yes. The employer pays the full wage during treatment for up to 6 months, then half the wage for another 6 months or until recovery, established disability or death, and bears all treatment costs.

What is the disability percentage for losing an eye or a hand?

Under the schedule: loss of one eye 45%, the right hand at the wrist 38% and the left 34%, the right index finger 15% and the left 10%; total loss of sight or complete paralysis counts as 100% total disability. For a left-handed worker, the left limb is treated as the right.

When does a worker lose the right to injury compensation?

If the injury was self-inflicted, caused by alcohol or drugs, by deliberately breaking posted safety rules or by deliberate misconduct, or if the worker refuses examination or treatment without good reason (Article 38). Claims must be filed within 2 years of the end of employment.

Is it different for UAE nationals registered with the pension authority?

GPSSA pays nationals a pension for death or total disability as if service were 35 years, and for partial disability the percentage × AED 75,000, with recourse against an employer at fault. Whether Article 37 compensation is also payable on top is not settled in the text.
