Example: basic AED 8,000, full salary AED 12,000, 7 years of service, 10 days of unused leave, and the employer ended the contract with 30 days' notice of which only 10 were worked: gratuity 44,000, leave pay 2,666.67 and notice pay for 20 days 8,000, for a total of AED 54,666.67.

Frequently asked questions
What is included in a UAE final settlement?
The end-of-service gratuity, pay for unused annual leave, wages up to your last working day, notice pay if the employer ended the contract without the full notice period, and any other dues under your contract, minus amounts you owe the employer.
When must the final settlement be paid?
Within 14 days of the end of the employment relationship, under Article 53 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021: wages and all other entitlements.
Is notice pay deducted if I resign without serving notice?
Yes. The party that does not respect the notice period compensates the other with the wage for the unserved days, so if you leave before completing your notice the employer may deduct that amount from your dues.
Which salary is used for each item?
Gratuity and leave pay are calculated on basic salary. Notice pay and unpaid days are calculated on the full wage (basic plus allowances).
Does resigning reduce my final settlement?
Under the current law, resigning does not reduce your gratuity (once you have one year of service) or your leave pay. Only notice pay changes: you pay it if you don't serve your notice.
