Estimate your social security payment
How the developed social security payment is calculated
- Family minimum = SAR 1,320 for the head of family or an independent applicant + SAR 660 for each dependent.
- Counted income = half of earned income (salaries, pensions and business income) + all unearned income (rent and benefits).
- Payment = family minimum − counted income, if the counted income is below the minimum.
| Family size | Minimum (no income) |
|---|---|
| Independent applicant or head of family alone | 1,320 |
| Head of family and two dependents | 2,640 |
| Head of family and four dependents | 3,960 |
| Head of family and six dependents | 5,280 (affected by the 5,000 cap) |
Examples:
Head of family with a wife and three children and a salary of 2,000: minimum 3,960, counted income 1,000, so the payment is SAR 2,960.
An independent widow with a pension of 1,800 and rent income of 300: minimum 1,320, counted income 900 + 300 = 1,200, so the payment is SAR 120.
Important conditions
- The main home and one car are not counted as wealth; cash savings are added to income in a way whose details have not been published.
- Signs of ineligibility: two or more cars for an independent applicant, more than 3 cars for a family, or more than two domestic workers.
- Any change in income or family size must be reported within 15 days.
This calculator is an estimate; the final amount is set by the Ministry of Human Resources after reviewing the application on the social support and protection platform. For other Saudi support, see the Hafiz calculator and the SANED calculator.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the Saudi developed social security payment?
The family minimum is SAR 1,320 for the head of family or an independent applicant and SAR 660 for each dependent, since the November 2023 payment. The difference between that minimum and the family's counted income is paid, so a family of five (head of family and four dependents) with no income receives SAR 3,960.
How is income counted for developed social security?
50% of earned income such as salaries, business income and retirement pensions is counted, and 100% of unearned income such as rent and government benefits. Disability allowances, support programmes and in-kind aid are not counted.
Is the Citizen's Account deducted from social security?
The latest official text excludes Citizen's Account support from counted income, but the ministry's 2023 FAQ guide is inconsistent on this, so the calculator offers both options.
When is developed social security paid?
On the 1st of each Gregorian month, starting from the month after the eligibility decision.
What are the conditions for developed social security?
The applicant must be Saudi (with specific exceptions), must not have stayed outside the Kingdom for more than 3 months in the previous year, and the counted income must be below the family minimum. An independent applicant must be 18 or older and live independently. Signs of ineligibility include a family owning more than 3 cars or employing more than two domestic workers.
Is there a maximum payment?
Press sources mention a family maximum of SAR 5,000, and we found no official text saying whether it applies to the final payment or to the minimum before income is deducted, so the calculator shows both figures for large families.
