Calculate your SANED benefit
SANED at a glance
| Months | Benefit | Monthly cap |
|---|---|---|
| 1–3 | 60% of the average wage | SAR 9,000 |
| 4–12 | 50% of the average wage | SAR 7,500 |
Example: average wage SAR 8,000 and 12 months without work. Months 1–3: SAR 4,800 a month; months 4–12: SAR 4,000 a month. Total SAR 50,400.
With an average of SAR 20,000, 60% is 12,000, cut to the 9,000 cap, and 50% is 10,000, cut to 7,500, so the total is 3 × 9,000 + 9 × 7,500 = SAR 94,500.
The average wage used
Average wage = total contributory wages (basic plus housing) over the last 24 months ÷ 24. A recent pay rise therefore counts only partly, and an average of SAR 15,000 or more reaches both caps (60% × 15,000 = 9,000 and 50% × 15,000 = 7,500).
Who qualifies
- Saudi nationals under 60 who contribute to the unemployment branch.
- Enough contributions: 12 months in the last 36 for the first claim, then 18 in 36 for the second, 24 in 36 for the third, and 36 in 48 after that. A claim counts as new each time the 12 benefit months are used up.
- You did not leave by choice (resignation) and were not dismissed for a reason attributable to you.
- You register with the competent authority, look for work seriously, and apply within 90 days of leaving work.
When payments stop
- When you earn income from work or become unable to work.
- When you refuse training, or leave the Kingdom for more than 60 days.
- When the 12 months are used up, or you reach 60 and qualify for a pension.
The 12 months may be continuous or broken, within 24 months of the first payment. SANED is funded by 0.75% of your wage and 0.75% from the employer. It does not replace your end-of-service award, so work out both when your contract ends.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the SANED benefit?
60% of the average contributory wage over the last 24 months for each of the first three months, up to SAR 9,000, then 50% for each later month, up to SAR 7,500, for a maximum of 12 months, consecutive or not.

0.75% from the employee and 0.75% from the employer, on the contributory wage (basic plus housing).
