Household income limit
| Household members | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 16 or more |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum household monthly income | 6,000 | 7,200 | 8,400 | 9,600 | 10,800 | 13,200 | 15,600 | 22,800 |
Examples:
A graduate with no income: SAR 20,250 over 15 months.
Own income of SAR 600: 1,400, then 900, then 400, then 150, for a total of SAR 11,250.
Own income of SAR 800: 1,200, then 700, then 200, then it stops in the last tier, for a total of SAR 8,400.
Anyone who has just lost a job should look at SANED unemployment benefit, because Hafiz only accepts people who worked before 24 months after their job ended. The allowance comes with obligations: logging in weekly, attending training and interviews, and accepting suitable work; refusing two suitable offers stops payment.
Frequently asked questions
How much is Hafiz in 2026?
A declining allowance over 15 months: SAR 2,000 for four months, then 1,500 for four, then 1,000 for four, then 750 for three, a maximum of SAR 20,250, under the Job Search Allowance Regulation (Council of Ministers Decision 575). We found no change to the amounts in 2024–2026.
Who is eligible for Hafiz?
Saudis aged 20 to 40 who lived in the Kingdom at least 10 months of the previous year, are not working, receive no pension, social security or SANED benefit, are not students or trainees in a programme longer than 3 months, have no commercial registration or business, have household income below the limit, and are registered on Taqat.
Can someone who lost their job get Hafiz?
Not straight away: anyone who has worked before can only apply 24 months after their job ended, and SANED recipients cannot apply. Recently dismissed workers should look at SANED, while graduates apply within 24 months of graduating.
Is a father's or wife's income deducted from Hafiz?
No. Household income is only an eligibility test: SAR 6,000 for a household of two, plus 1,200 for each extra member, up to 22,800. Your own income is deducted from the allowance, with a minimum payment of SAR 100, and payment stops if your income reaches the allowance.
When is Hafiz paid?
On the 5th of each calendar month, with results shown between the 2nd and 4th, according to the HRDF programme page.
What happens at age 40?
Payment stops as soon as you turn 40, even if the 15 months are not complete.
