Which system applies to you?

Anyone with any uncompensated contribution period before 3 July 2024 stays under the old rules for the lump sum, even for months after that date. Anyone first insured from 3 July 2024 (or compensated for all earlier periods and then back at work) is under the new system.

This is an estimate: the CPI revaluation and the number of instalments under the new system are set by the regulations, and the official amount is on your GOSI statement. Frequently asked questions

How is GOSI lump-sum compensation calculated?

Under the old system (anyone insured before 3 July 2024): the last 24 months' average wage × 10% for each of the first 60 months and 12% for each month after, with months before 1/1/1422H at 6% and 7%. Under the new system: the total pension contributions paid by employer and employee, revalued by the consumer price index and never below their nominal value.

When is the lump sum paid?

Under the old system at 60 Hijri years after leaving covered work for those without a pension, or earlier in cases including a woman who leaves work without a pension right, death, non-occupational disability, loss of nationality and imprisonment of 5 years or more. Under the new system only at 65 with under 180 months, or on disability, death or loss of nationality.

Is the lump sum paid when I resign?

Not for men under either system: leaving work alone does not trigger payment before the age. Under the old system, a woman who leaves work without a pension right may claim it.

How much is the lump sum for 8 years of service?

96 months on an average of SAR 8,000 under the old system: 8,000 × (60 × 10% + 36 × 12%) = SAR 82,560.

Is it better to take the lump sum or buy service?

Under the old system, someone with 60 to 119 months at age 60 may buy the missing months up to 120 at 18% of the average wage per month and get a monthly pension. For example, 96 months on SAR 8,000: buying 24 months costs SAR 34,560 and gives a pension of SAR 2,000 a month.

Can I restore the period if I return to work?

Under the old system, yes, if you repay the full lump sum in one payment within a year of returning to covered work; your earlier service then counts again.
