Count the period between two dates
When you need this calculator
- Notice period: have 30 or 60 days passed since you handed in notice?
- Leave: how many working days does leave from one date to another use?
- Probation: when do the six months or 90 days end?
- Residence permits and contracts: how long is left until the expiry date?
Example: from Sunday 1 November to Tuesday 1 December 2026 is 30 days, one month. With a Friday–Saturday weekend, 22 of them are working days.
For the length of service your gratuity is based on, use your country's calculator, such as UAE gratuity or Saudi end of service, because they apply the rules for part years. Prefer Arabic? Use the Arabic version.
Frequently asked questions
Is the end date counted?
Not by default: from the 1st to the 2nd of a month is one day. Tick “Count the end date” if you are counting leave days or a notice period that includes both the first and last days.
What is the weekend in the Gulf countries?
Friday and Saturday in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. In the UAE, federal government bodies have worked Monday to Friday with a half-day Friday since 2022, and the private-sector weekend depends on the employer, so choose the one in your contract.
Are public holidays excluded from working days?
No. The calculator excludes only the weekend. Subtract any public holidays in the period yourself.
How do I use it for a notice period?
Use the date you handed in notice as the start and your last working day as the end, and tick the end date option. Then compare the result with the notice period in your contract or the law.
