What the table leaves out
- Members who do not qualify for a pension get an end-of-service gratuity instead: 1.5 months' salary for each of the first five years, 2 months for each of the next five and 3 months after that.
- Sharjah government employees are under a separate system.
- Periodic pension increases decided by the authorities are not included.

Frequently asked questions
What is the UAE pension after 25 years of service?
Under the old law 80% of the pension salary (average of the last 5 years): a salary of 30,000 gives AED 24,000. Under the new law 66.75% of the 6-year average: AED 20,025. In Abu Dhabi 80% of the 6-year average: AED 24,000.
What is the UAE pension after 20 years of service?
Under the old law 70%: a salary of 20,000 gives AED 14,000. Under the new law 53.4%: AED 10,680. In Abu Dhabi 64%: AED 12,800.
What does the asterisk in the table mean?
The calculated pension is below the minimum (AED 10,000 under the new federal law and AED 10,200 in Abu Dhabi), so it is raised to the minimum and the government pays the difference.
