This is Table 1 of Cabinet Resolution 23/2012, in force since 1 January 2012, as published in English by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources. Housing is split into single and married amounts, and the printed totals match the sum of the items for every grade after correcting two cells confirmed by the table's ratios (housing 40% and 60% and cost of living 20% of basic, with caps). Which of two columns is "cost of living" and which is "social allowance" is not settled; it affects neither the total nor the pension.
Senior positions
| Position | Basic | Housing | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Undersecretary | 53,125 | 10,000 | 131,250 |
| Assistant undersecretary | 42,500 | 10,000 | 107,000 |
| Special grade (A) | 34,000 | 5,000 | 55,400 |
| Special grade (B) | 25,500 | 5,000 | 42,925 |
The undersecretary's and assistant undersecretary's totals include a special allowance granted by the President and furniture, phone and hospitality allowances.
Other allowances
- Children's allowance: AED 600 per child with no limit, stopping for a son at 24 and for a daughter on marriage.
- Qualification allowance: AED 1,000 for a master's and 2,000 for a PhD a month if relevant to the job, under the previous regulation and as reported for the 2023 regulation.
- Technical allowance: under the previous regulation 50% of basic up to 5,000 for engineers and similar, and 30% up to 2,500 for engineering and technical diploma holders; not verified in the 2023 regulation, so the calculator leaves it out.
Annual increment and bonus
Under the Injazati performance system in force from 1 January 2026, annual increments are due to levels 2 to 5 based on the salary scale and the annual rating. The table does not say explicitly that its "annual allowance" column (AED 70 to 250) is added to basic pay each year, so we offer it as an optional estimate. The annual bonus is a one-off payment: up to twice the total salary for rating 5, 1.5 for rating 4 and one salary for rating 3, capped at AED 100,000 a year.
Pension
11% is deducted for those first registered from 31 October 2023 and 5% for those registered earlier, with the employer paying 15%. The pensionable salary in government is basic pay, housing, cost of living, social allowance and children's allowance, capped at AED 100,000; transport and the President's grant are excluded. Estimate your pension with the Emirati pension calculator.
Examples:
Grade 7, married, two children, registered after October 2023: 12,330 + 1,200 = 13,530 total, pension base 10,650, deduction 1,171.50, net AED 12,358.50.
Grade 10, single, registered before 2023: total 7,364, base 5,784, 5% deduction 289.20, net AED 7,074.80.
Grade 1, married, three children: total 28,955, net after 11% AED 26,502.
The Abu Dhabi and Dubai governments have their own tables, which are not officially published, so the calculator does not apply to them. For the Abu Dhabi pension use the Abu Dhabi pension calculator.
