Amounts come from Article 41 of the Universities Financial Affairs Regulation and match the pages of King Saud, Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal and Northern Border universities. The deduction is under Article 12 of the student funds regulation: SAR 10 for stipends of 850 or more and 5 for smaller ones. We found no change in amounts up to November 2026, and no extra stipend for married students or those studying outside their city; the away-from-home allowance is for school students.

There is no published national rule: each university pays from its own budget, and the practice at major universities is the 27th of each Gregorian month with the salary cycle, as at King Saud University (October 2022 and April 2025) and the University of Hail (February 2025). Moving Friday to Thursday and Saturday to Sunday is our inference from the government salary rule, and a university may pay early before Founding Day, National Day or Eid.
Eligibility and stopping
- Who: Saudi students, children of Saudi mothers and external scholarship holders, if regular students without a government job.
- GPA: stops on academic warning under 2 out of 5, or 2.75 in some colleges.
- Duration: the program's normal length in the study plan; postponed semesters do not count.
- Suspension: withdrawal or postponement, visiting study until results are posted, disciplinary action, and not collecting for 3 months.
- Summer: Resolution 216 excludes the summer holiday except for summer registrants, and some universities pay those who studied the second semester.
Other categories
- Students with disabilities: SAR 5,240 for the first class and 1,500 for the second a month according to the University of Jeddah, with the classification (severe or moderate) issued by the Ministry of Human Resources. We did not find these amounts in a second source.
- Technical trainees: SAR 990 a month at technical colleges and 800 at secondary institutes, according to the corporation; the payment day is not published.
- Graduate studies: one month's stipend a year for books, and SAR 3,000 (master's) or 4,000 (PhD) for thesis printing.
Examples:
Engineering student: 1,000 − 10 = SAR 990 a month, 11,880 over 12 months.
Arabic literature student: 850 − 10 = SAR 840.
Top science student with a 4.6 GPA in two consecutive semesters: 990 a month plus a 1,000 excellence reward in the year.

How much is the university stipend in Saudi Arabia in 2026?
SAR 1,000 a month for science majors, 850 for humanities majors and 900 for graduate students under Article 41 of the Universities Financial Affairs Regulation. SAR 10 goes to the student fund, so the net is 990, 840 and 890.
When is the university stipend paid?
Major universities pay it on the 27th of each Gregorian month with the salary cycle, as at King Saud University and the University of Hail. Each university pays from its own budget and may bring the date forward for occasions. The November 2026 stipend is expected on Thursday 26 November because the 27th is a Friday.
Why is my stipend 990 and not 1,000?
Universities deduct SAR 10 a month for the student fund from every stipend of 850 or more (and 5 from smaller ones), under Article 12 of the student funds regulation.
Is the stipend paid during the summer holiday?
It depends on the university. Cabinet Resolution 216 of 1421H excludes the summer holiday except for students registered in summer courses, while King Saud University pays it to students who studied the preceding second semester. Check with your university's admissions deanship.
When does the university stipend stop?
On academic warning with a GPA under 2 (or 2.75 in some colleges), withdrawal or postponement, disciplinary action, exceeding the program's normal duration, or if the student holds a government job. It is paid to Saudis, children of Saudi mothers and external scholarship holders.
How much is the excellence reward?
SAR 1,000 once per academic year for bachelor's students with a GPA of 4.50 out of 5 or higher in two consecutive semesters. Graduate students also get one month's stipend a year for books and SAR 3,000 (master's) or 4,000 (PhD) for thesis printing.
