The table is generated with the same formula as the Bahrain end-of-service calculator and assumes whole years and a constant wage.

The formula

Gratuity = last wage × (0.5 × years of service up to 3 + 1 × years beyond 3), where the wage is the basic wage plus any social allowance (Article 47). Part years count pro rata, and resignation does not reduce the gratuity. Bahrainis are covered by social insurance instead; see the Bahrain pension calculator. Prefer Arabic? Use the Arabic version.

Frequently asked questions

What is the gratuity for 5 years in Bahrain?

3.5 months of the last wage (half a month for each of the first three years and a month for each of the next two): a wage of BHD 500 gives BHD 1,750.

What is the gratuity for 10 years in Bahrain?

8.5 months of the last wage: a wage of BHD 800 gives BHD 6,800.

Is the gratuity reduced on resignation in Bahrain?

No. The same rule applies to resignation and termination, with no minimum service and no cap.

Who pays the gratuity?

The employer pays for service before 1 March 2024; for later service the Social Insurance Organization pays it from monthly contributions paid by the employer (4.2%, then 8.4% of the wage).
