Example: a wife and two children, two-year residence, family outside the UAE.
In Dubai: entry 630, residence 720, IDs 900 and the wife's medical 320 = AED 2,570 in government fees, or 4,370 with a year of insurance (600 per person); then about 2,770 a year with insurance.
In Abu Dhabi: entry 900, residence 1,200, IDs 900 and medical 250 = AED 3,250, then about 1,175 a year.

Sponsorship requires a salary of at least AED 4,000, or 3,000 with employer housing, and an attested tenancy contract. A dependent's residence cannot outlast the sponsor's. The figures above are published government fees, unchanged in 2025–2026 as far as we found; service centres add AED 100–300 per application, and newspapers put the real first-year cost in Dubai at about AED 7,000 for a family of three.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a wife's residence visa cost in Dubai?

Official government fees for a wife for two years come to about AED 1,060: entry permit 210 (200 plus VAT), residence 240 (200 plus knowledge, innovation and delivery fees), a two-year Emirates ID 300 and a medical test 320, plus health insurance (AED 550–650 a year for the basic plan) and service centre fees. Market prices at typing centres are higher.

What salary do you need to sponsor your family in the UAE?

AED 4,000 a month, or AED 3,000 with employer-provided housing, according to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship. For parents the official portal gives no figure; secondary sources cite AED 10,000 or 20,000.

How much is the Emirates ID for a dependent?

AED 100 for each year of residence plus AED 100 for smart services, so a two-year ID costs AED 300 before centre fees.

Is a deposit needed to sponsor parents?

The federal authority requires a refundable guarantee of AED 5,000 per person, up to 15,000, plus a AED 20 deposit fee; Dubai sources cite different deposits.
