Frequently asked questions

What is the new residential electricity price in Saudi Arabia?

From 1 January 2027: 21 halalas per kWh for the first 6,000 kWh a month and 33 halalas above that, up from 18 and 30 halalas since January 2018. Fixed fees and VAT are added.

What are the new fixed fees?

A monthly fee for homes by breaker capacity: SAR 70 for 20 to under 100 amps, SAR 80 for 100 to under 200, SAR 90 for 200 to under 300, and SAR 100 for 300 amps and above. It replaces the meter reading, maintenance and billing fee, and is charged by the number of days in the billing period.

Do the announced prices include VAT?

No. Prices and fixed fees are before VAT; 15% VAT is added to the bill.

How do I find my breaker capacity?

On your monthly bill or in the Saudi Energy Company app. Ordinary homes are usually in the first band (under 100 amps).

What about other sectors?

Commercial, private health and private education: 25 halalas up to 6,000 kWh and 35 above. Agricultural: 19 and 23 halalas. Industrial: 23 halalas. Government: 35 halalas. Their fixed fees depend on capacity and activity and have not been published in full, so enter them manually.

What is the SAR 500 monthly support?

A royal directive provides SAR 500 a month to limit the impact of the electricity and water tariff changes, for eligible civil and military state employees, retirees, families of deceased subscribers and retirees, and social security families, subject to eligibility rules.

How is consumption before 1 January 2027 billed?

Consumption before the start date is billed at the old tariff and consumption after it at the new one, so a bill spanning the date combines both.
