Salary 2,000: 75 + 25 + 50 + 37.5 + 10 = 197.5 is deducted and net pay is 1,802.5; the employer pays 230.
Salary 14,000: insurable pay is capped at 2,750, so 257.5 is deducted and net pay is 13,742.5.
Insurable pay in the private sector is everything paid in cash or in kind; in government it is basic plus social and children's allowances. None of the rates or caps changed in 2024–2026. Secondary sources say national labour support may count as insurable pay, but we found no official text. The treasury pays further shares that do not affect your net pay.
For your pension use the Kuwait pension calculator, and for labour support the national labour support calculator.
Frequently asked questions
How much is deducted from a Kuwaiti's salary for social insurance?
In the private sector 10.5% on pay up to KWD 1,500: 5% basic insurance, 2.5% pension increase, 2.5% financial reward and 0.5% unemployment. In government 10%, because unemployment insurance covers the private and oil sectors only. On pay between 1,500 and 2,750, 5% supplementary, 2.5% increase and 0.5% unemployment are deducted.
What is the employer's share of Kuwaiti social insurance?
11.5% in the private sector on pay up to 1,500 (10% basic, 1% pension increase and 0.5% unemployment) and 11% in government, plus 10% supplementary on the 1,500–2,750 band.
What is the maximum insurable salary in Kuwait?
KWD 1,500 for basic insurance and KWD 2,750 for supplementary insurance, the pension increase and unemployment; nothing is due above that. The private-sector minimum is KWD 230.
Is anything deducted from an expat's salary in Kuwait?
No. Expats are not insured with PIFSS, so their net pay equals their gross pay; the employer pays the end-of-service indemnity.
