How much is a housemaid's salary in Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia has no statutory minimum wage for domestic workers; the floors are set by sending countries: the Philippines USD 400 (SAR 1,500) and Thailand USD 500 (SAR 1,875). Manila raised its floor to USD 500 in August 2025, but later reports said the Gulf was exempted and the position is contested, so agree the salary in the contract. Since 1 January 2026 all domestic worker salaries are paid electronically through Musaned to an account or wallet in the worker's name.

When do you get the recruitment cost back?

Examples:
Filipina at the cap for a citizen with fewer than 5 workers: 16,905 + 2,000 + 172.50 + 600 + salary 1,500 × 12 = SAR 37,677.50 in the first year, about SAR 2,344.90 a month over a two-year contract.
Ethiopian at the cap with a SAR 1,000 salary: 6,785 + 2,000 + 172.50 + 600 + 12,000 = SAR 21,557.50.
Refusal in month 2 of a SAR 16,905 two-year contract: 16,905 ÷ 24 × 22 = SAR 15,496.25 refunded by the office.
